Sushila Kumari gets prestigious Bhartendu Harish Chandra award
NEW DELHI: Veteran journalists and writers Alok Mehta, Usha Yadav, Sushila Kumari and Prof Madhusudan along with 12 others were honoured with the prestigious Bhartendu Harish Chandra awards instituted by the ministry of Information and Broadcasting.Honouring the writers, Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi called for simplifying the Hindi language so that it could reach the masses.“Bhartendu Harish Chandra reached Hindi to the people through his works. Now today's Hindi writers should aim at that too. They should chose words which could be easily comprehended by maximum number of people,” he said.Dasmunsi said he was also a journalist and was feeling very happy to honour the people from this profession. Mehta got the first prize for Journalism and Mass Communication for his book Patrakarita Ki Laxman Rekha. Arvind Mohan was given the second prize in this category for his book Patrakar Aur Ptrakarita Prakashan, while the third prize went to Chandra Babu Bhushan for his manuscript Pustak Prakashan: Vividh Aayam.The first, second and third prizes in the journalism and mass communication category carry a cash component of Rs 35,000, Rs 25,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively, besides a citation.In Children's Literature category, the first prize went to Usha Yadav for her manuscript Qile Ke Rahasya. Dr Ranjana Agrawal got the second prize for her manuscript Machhar Ne Samjhaya and Dr Pushpa Saxena bagged the third prize in this category for her manuscript Maati Ke Tare.In the Women Issues category, Sushila Kumari, Prominent writer and editor of Femina Features bagged the first prize for her manuscript Aadhi Dunya Ka Sach while Jhumpa Mete got the second prize for her manuscript Media Aur Nari Muddey.
